FLORIDA EVERGLADES Photography WORKSHOP

Join award winning photographers Robert O'Toole and Fabiola Del Alcazar and co-leader Alfred Forns for a special 3 day south Florida Everglades Photography Workshop.

This workshop offers morning and evening in the field instructional photography sessions with afternoon Photoshop instruction with friendly helpful critique sessions. All workshop leaders have experience with both Canon and Nikon Digital SLRs and lenses. Robert, one of the workshop leaders, presently shoots with both systems. There will be many unbelievably tame animals, including many birds in breeding plumage, Herons, Anhinga, Cormorants, Egrets, Alligators, and possibility Swallowtail kite. In addition to Bird and animal photography, we will also be exploring the world of close-up macro photography with Robert and your creative photographic possibilities with Fabiola.

The workshop is limited to a group size of 8 and almost half of the spots are already filled so act quickly if you would like to join us. This workshop will sell out quickly.

Group size: 8 participants plus Robert O'Toole and Fabiola Del Alcazar as leaders and co-leader Alfred Forns.

FAQ

Where are the Everglades?

The Florida Everglades are subtropical marshland located in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Florida, about 40 miles southwest of Miami/Fort Lauderdale. For more information on the Everglades please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everglades

What makes the Everglades so special?

Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The area boasts rare and endangered species, such as the American crocodile, Florida panther, and West Indian manatee. It has been designated an International Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site, and a Wetland of International Importance, in recognition of its significance to all the people of the world.
The Florida Everglades is also great place to photograph and learn. The workshop is timed to offer the most subjects in the best condition and plumage in close proximity. There are unbelievably tame subjects, including many birds in breeding plumage, herons, anhinga, cormorants, and egrets. There are also plenty of chances to photograph Alligators close up. There will also be great chances for Swallowtail Kites in flight. Also the Everglades offers great Macro photography subjects and possibilities for all kinds of creative techniques.

What makes this photography workshop different from other workshops in Florida?

  • The workshop is strictly limited to 8 participants, ensuring plenty of time with the tour leaders.
  • The photography subjects are close and most are comfortable with people
  • Instructor-participant interaction is maximized with 2 leaders and a co-leader
  • The leaders are all Florida residents and are very familiar with the area and the photographic opportunities
  • The workshop includes friendly critique, image review and Photoshop instruction.
  • The leaders are all experienced with Canon and Nikon and one leader currently uses both systems.
  • The instructors are graduates of the University of Florida Freshwater Wetlands Naturalist Program

Do I have to have a long expensive telephoto lens?

500-600mm lenses are recommended, but are certainly not required to capture great images. A shorter zoom from 100-400 or 200-400 and 70-200 lenses will offer excellent photo opportunities. Macro and wide angle lenses are also recommended. Email for more information.
